After just jumping on the blogging train i have had discussions with some of my friends as to the usefulness of the blog to build students communication and social skills . Many had the opinion that the increase of Internet and blog socialisation is not a “proper” form of communication and the more traditional verbal communication skills should be enforced within the classroom. I feel that although verbal communication will always have a place in our society, it is vital that we assess what we think is “proper” or ‘valid” communication. It just so happens that the mode of communication between each other is changing and one may suggest that our attitudes about what is “valid” communication should evolve too. I have attached an article i that inspired this conservation with friends. It contains some suggetsions and justifications as to how how blogging can be a useful tool within the classroom.
